Audition notice for Gypsy

Who: 73rd Ave Theater Company in conjunction with South Westminster Arts Group

What: Auditions for 73rd Ave Theater Company’s production of “Gypsy” 

The show will be directed by Ellen Farnsworth.
Where: 73rd Ave. Playhouse
7287 Lowell Blvd. Westminster, CO.

When: Auditions:Monday March 9 and Tuesday March 10 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. with callbacks on Wednesday March 10 and Thursday March 11 from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m.  There are 4 roles for children ages 10 -12, 2 boys and 2 girls, these auditions will be held on Saturday March 13 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.   • Rehearsals will begin March 16 and will be held in the evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and some afternoons or early evenings on Saturdays. The exact dates and times will be available at auditions. Performances run June 4 – July 11, 2010 on Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m.

Characters needed:

The roles of Rose, Adult Louise, and Herbie, and various adult male roles have already been cast                  

All Roles are required to be able to sing and some must be able to dance

 

Baby June – female 10 – 12 must be able to tap dance and do the splits

Baby Louise – female 10 – 12 must be able to sing

2 males – ages 10 – 12 must be able to sing and tap dance

Adult June – 18 – 25 must sing and dance

Tulsa – male 18 – 30 must sing and tap dance

Chorus male – 18 – 30 must sing and be able to move

2 Chorus and various minor roles – females 18 – 30 must sing and be able to move

Tessie Tura (stripper) – female 25 – 40 must sing and move

Mazeppa  (stripper) – female 25 – 40 must sing and move

Electra (stripper) – female 25 – 40 must sing and move

 

Requirements:
1. Email Ellen Farnsworth at superstar2_91321@yahoo.com or call 720-216-1617 or 303-815-3073 for an audition appointment. Place “Gypsy audition” in the subject line with the date and character you prefer.
2. Bring a headshot (or photo) and resume..

3.  For the Adults, be prepared to sing 32 bars of a musical theater type song for first audition. Bring sheet music no CD”S or a cappella – an accompanist will be supplied.  For the children, please be prepared to sing “Let Me Entertain You”

4.  Callbacks will consist of additional singing from the score, dance, and cold reads from the script.
