Ellen Farnsworth
Ellen Farnsworth has been involved with theater since the age of 4. She started out as a dancer and turned professional at the age of 15. She continued dancing while attending California State University Northridge where she majored in English and minored in Theater Arts. She studied acting and became a dance teacher after starting a family. Ellen then became an instructor for children in the field of performing arts. She turned to directing Children’s theater productions approximately 10 years ago and then advanced to adult shows 7 years ago. She moved from Los Angeles, California to Denver in 2005 and found the 73rd Avenue Theater in 2009. She had worked at other venues previously in Denver. She now calls the 73rd Avenue Theater home and is happy to have the opportunities that this company provides in putting on varied productions. She looks forward to a long and happy collaboration with all the company’s members and associates.
Tara Farnsworth
Tara has recently made the 73rd Avenue Theatre her new home, and wears many different hats at the company. She can be seen acting on stage, assistant directing, choreographing, stage managing, and performing in the touring shows, just to name a few. Tara has been on the stage for as long as she can remember. She started at a young age as a professional ballet dancer, eventually transitioned into theater, and has continued to pursue her love of acting for over 12 years now. Tara is currently receiving her degree in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Denver, but will never give up her enthusiasm and love of the arts. Tara’s favorite roles include: Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Columbia in The Rocky Horror Show, Mrs. Potiphar in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Wendy in Peter Pan. Tara hopes to spend many more seasons on the 73rd Avenue Theatre stage to continue to share her passion for theater with many more audiences to come. She would like to thank Maru for the opportunity to work at such a wonderful theater with such amazing talent. She would also like to thank the other girls on the Board of Directors and her mom for being so supportive of her, the theater, and all the projects we have taken on (Squirrel!).
Maru Garcia
Maru started doing theatre in Mexico City when she was 16 years old. She decided to go to College to become a Director, obtaining her BA in Theatre Arts from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. She moved to Denver in 1998 and has been acting in different venues in Colorado since then.Over her 25 years of artistic career she has directed more than 20 plays and acted in a little bit over 40 plays both in Mexico and the U.S. She formed The 73rd. Avenue Theatre Company in January 2009 with the idea of presenting quality community theater that will bring this art to all ages.
Kiso Kyle
Kiso has worked in various positions with theater companies all over the United States including the North Carolina Shakespeare Festival, Interlochen Theater Camp in Michigan, The West Seattle Playhouse, and Denver’s Adams Mystery Playhouse.
She holds a B.A. in theater from Hastings College in Nebraska and spent a year abroad studying with the Drama department at the Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education.
Kiso has been involved with the 73Rd Avenue Theater Company since its first show in March. She can be seen both onstage and off and looks forward to continued work with the company.
Mellisa Taylor
Mellisa fell in love with the stage when she was all of 5 years old, after she earned her first solo part singing “On the Road Again” with her childhood music group; and was involved in her first theatre production “Pirates of Penzance,” at the age of 16. Since then she has taken part in various shows and musicals, and enjoys being involved with theatre in any way she can, both onstage and backstage, whether it’s in her small hometown of Shelley, ID, or the more diverse environment of Denver, CO. In March 2009, she became involved with the 73rd Avenue Theatre Company, and has enjoyed the opportunity to work with the talented and dedicated group of directors, actors, and techs that come together to make stage magic happen.
